Ruth, a young Florida woman, attempts to escape the milieu of waste represented by her middle-class parents, and so finds herself in a re-imagined sixties commune utopia that cannot work because of what? But Noyo, the owner of the herb farm where Ruth finds herself in upstate New York amongst a variety of |crazies,| though horrified by the world's cruelties past and present, is not willing to throw in the towel, to corroborate the corrosion of humanity. In this fight he is reluctantly joined by Ruth, whose own problems seek resolve in a multifaceted drama involving a failed scholar, a zombie enthusiast, a nudist hermit, and an escaped mental patient and lesbian artist. In Ruth's determination to make the farm her new home, a fire is lit, a conflagration through which she makes a few discoveries about herself and her place in the world.
